Celebrate with Science!
Catawba Science Center offers educational and engaging birthday parties for all ages, even adults.

Children’s Birthday Party Hours
Saturday, 10:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.
Sunday, 1:30 p.m.

Parties include the two hour use of a classroom, one hour of demonstrations and activities related to the party theme, and free admission for party participants to the science center.  For additional fees, CSC can decorate and provide gift bags, drinks, snacks and a cake.

Butterfly Bash
Ages 4 to 8
Delve into the beautiful world of butterflies. Ever wondered what a butterfly eats or how it grows? Learn all about these delicate, winged beauties and make a butterfly take-home craft. Visit CSC’s LIVE butterflies in Flutter-By and get the inside scoop on these fluttery creatures.

Science Magic
Ages 7 to 12
Watch a variety of “magical” physical science demonstrations with liquid nitrogen and exploding balloons. Cool tricks teach concepts of chemistry, matter, physical and chemical changes. Make homemade silly putty while doing some experimentation of your own.

Dino-Mite
Ages 3 to 8
Discover the world of dinosaurs as you excavate and identify fossils to learn how they were formed. Pose with Apatosaurus and T. rex bone models and visualize the creatures’ immense proportions. Make a souvenir fossil with modeling clay.

Seashore Celebration
Ages 4 to 8
Journey to the “beach” and get an up-close look at live, aquatic specimens like sea urchins and horseshoe crabs, while learning how these creatures have adapted to marine life. Examine shells, make fish prints and a dry aquarium.

Meet the Animals
Ages 3 to 12
A wildly popular party. Meet some of CSC’s live residents (reptiles and arthropods), examine animal pelts and identify the tracks they leave behind. Be the creature with an animal mask you make to take home.

Earth and Sky Spectacular
Ages 6 to 12
Explore the universe through an immersive experience in CSC’s digital planetarium. Visit seldom seen undersea worlds, take a trip through the solar system and faraway galaxies. Make your very own model of Saturn. Ask for featured show title when booking this party, since show schedules change.

Standard Party
Cost: $60 CSC Members
$90 Nonmembers

Cost includes up to 15 children (including the birthday child) and 10 adults. $4 additional charge for each extra person (child or adult). Max. 25 children, 35 people total.

50-minute hands-on program (included in 2 hours)

Earth & Sky Spectacular Standard Party
Cost: $110 CSC Members
$140 Nonmembers

Cost includes up to 15 children (including the birthday child) and 10 adults. $5 additional charge for each extra person (child or adult). Max. 25 children, 35 people total.

2-hour use of the party room
20-minute hands-on program (included in 2 hours)
30-minute planetarium presentation (Star talk or digital show)
Theme-related Make & Take item
Free admission to CSC exhibits for all attending children and adults
Birthday child’s name in CSC newsletter

Deluxe Party
Cost: $140 CSC Members
$180 Nonmembers
Decorated Cake (optional) $27

Cost includes up to 15 children (including birthday child) and 10 adults. $8 additional charge for each extra child and $4 for each extra adult. Max. 25 children, 35 people total.

Cost: $210 CSC members
$280 Nonmembers

Adult Birthday Parties

Teens and adults can celebrate their special day with friends and family at Catawba Science Center in a variety of ways. Packages and prices vary, but include access to exhibit areas after hours, and planetarium or laser show options.
