History of Beer & Tutored Tasting
Friday, February 23rd 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Join us as we journey back to early America and learn about the history of beer! Dr. Sommer, Director of Fermentation Sciences at Appalachian State University, will speak on the history of beer in America – reflecting on the influences of the current craft beer scene. Gastonia’s Cavendish Brewing Company‘s Head Brewer William Warren will be on site with old world beer samples! Also, explore our current featured exhibition, American Adventure, and try to survive as a settler in Jamestown 1607!
Dr. Stephan Sommer has more than eight years industry experience in various fields of beverage production including wineries, sparkling wine companies, breweries, table water production, and related fields like laboratories and industrial flavor production. His teaching responsibilities include topics such as Introduction to Fermentation Science, Sensory Science, and Fermented Beverages of the World.
Doors open at 5:30.
