North Carolina Science Festival

April is North Carolina Science Festival Month!

The North Carolina Science Festival is the first statewide science festival in the United States. The annual month-long celebration of science brings together hundreds of community events across North Carolina each year in April. Celebrating its  14th anniversary in 2024, the Festival presents a unique opportunity for North Carolinians of all ages to celebrate and engage with science. NCScifest is presented by the Biogen Foundation and produced by Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

STEM TREK is a FREE family event for all ages! Explore fun STEM careers while participating in hands-on activities provided by local businesses highlighting STEM career options. The event is engaging for children and adults alike! Located in the West Building at the SALT Block in Hickory!

State of Innovation of Beer!

April 11th | 5:30 – 7:30 PM

'Tap' into the trends of an NC staple beverage. Learn why North Carolina is a beer mecca. Appalachian State University's Dr. Brett Taubman, Professor and Director of Fermentation Sciences will lead participants through the evolution of IPAs with a discussion of brewery innovations and tutored tasting from local breweries with more than just IPAs.  In the Planetarium Building.
