Cub Scout Science

Introducing our new scouting opportunity: On-demand, private adventure classes! Scout Science programs available at CSC or brought to your den! Book a CSC scout program to work toward the following adventure based on rank:

Wolves - Germs Alive!
Bears - Super Science!
Webelos - Geologist!

Wolf: Germs Alive! - Requirements Met
  1. Wash your hands while singing the "germ song".
  2. Play Germ Magnet with your den. Wash your hands again afterwards.
  3. Conduct the Sneeze demonstration.
  4. Conduct the Mucus demonstration with your den.
Bear: Super Science! - Requirements Met
  1. Make static electricity by rubbing a balloon or a plastic or rubber comb on a fleece blanket or wool sweater.
  2. Conduct a balloon or other static electricity investigation that demonstrates properties of static electricity.
  3. Conduct one other static electricity investigation.
  4. Do a sink-or-float investigation.
  5. Do a color-morphing investigation.
  6. Do a color-layering investigation.
Webelos: Earth Rocks! - Requirements Met
  • 1a- Explain the meaning of the word “geology”.
  • 1b- Explain why this kind of science is an important part of your world.
  • 2- Look for different kinds of rock or minerals while on a rock hunt with your family or den.
  • 3a- Identify the rocks you see on your rock hunt. Use the information in your handbook to determine which types of rocks you have collected.
  • 3b- With a magnifying glass, take a closer look at your collection. Determine any differences between your specimens.
  • 4a- With your family or den, make a mineral test kit, and test rocks according to the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
  • 4b- Record the results in your handbook.
  • 5- With your family or den, identify on a road map of your state some geological features in your area.
  • 6a- Identify some of the geological building materials used in building your home.
  • 6b- Identify some of the geological materials used around your community.

A Boy Scout Evening

November 14, December 12, or January 9 from 4:30 – 7:00 PM

Join us for a unique opportunity for scouts to dive into the fascinating world of AI! Choose one of the three evenings; November 14, December 12, or January 9. Participants will explore our exhibit Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & The Machine and take part in a hands-on activity to learn about AI. Pre-registration is required to secure your spot! All children must be accompanied by an adult.

15 person minimum, parents and siblings are welcome.
25 scout maximum.

Bring the Program to You!

Any weekday evening, CSC staff can bring the private adventure class to your den.

25 scouts maximum
$150 per class + mileage.

*mileage based on the current government rate.

Girl Scout Science

Enjoy a private planetarium class for your troop! Planetarium seating is 65 max.
Classes help girls work toward the following Journey, based on their level:

Daisy - Space Science Explorer!
Brownie - Space Science Adventurer!
Junior - Space Science Investigator!

Program details:
One hour long classes, includes general admission to CSC for the day!
Participants must pre-register for these programs.

15 person minimum, parents and siblings are welcome.
20 scout maximum.

Scouts - $13
Adults/nonparticipating youth - $10

CSC Membership admission discount does not apply to group visits. One level per class. Troop provide own badges.
