Experiment and innovate through our weekly engineering and design challenges. The Foothills Collaboratory, or The LAB, offers staffed drop-in activities, as well as many different unfacilitated activities that you can explore on your own. Each week we change the overall theme of the room to discover a new science topic using the materials provided at each table. Visitors can complete challenges through hands-on science exploration, and get creative by coloring a seasonal page for our community wall!

SPARK: A STEM Career Showcase is held in The LAB on the second and third Saturday of the month and features local industries in the Carolina Foothills. Visitors can participate in guided activities based on STEM careers.

Hickory Bot Battles

The destructive battles continue this September! Join us for 2 days of combat robot battles on September 11th beginning at 11 AM & September 12th beginning at 9 AM. Sponsored by CSC and USCONEC, Bot Battles will take place on the SALT Block in the West Wing Building. Admission to the Science Center is not included; non-members who purchase tickets to Battle Bots can add CSC admission at 1/2 price on the day of the event. Fabulous and I don’t often give praise. We took our grandson and were there for hours. He loved it and so did we.
We love the Science Center! I take my 2 and 4 year old boys weekly to play and enjoy the exhibits. The staff are wonderful and the classes offered are excellent! We are so blessed to have such an amazing resource in our area.
What a wonderful place to visit! Great environment to learn and the staff is very helpful! Hickory is lucky to have great family education and entertainment.
This place was great. We have kids from 8 to 1 and they all had a great time. What I really liked is most of the exhibits are hands on and that really kept them occupied.
Took the kiddos and they loved it. Employees were nice and helpful. If your looking for something to do with the kids give this place a shot.
