CSC's Annual Dinner & Auction is an evening of dancing, dining, live and silent auctions, games, and more! This is CSC's largest fundraiser and is organized and coordinated by the Catawba Science Center Guilda group of passionate individuals who help with CSC's fundraising projects. Doors open before dinner for guests to enjoy themed games to win prizes, get drinks, and bid on silent auction items. Dinner is served in the ballroom and typically includes wine, salad, entrée, bread, and dessert followed by a live auction and entertainment! During the dinner guests can participate in popular games. Each year Catawba Science Center highlights an internal project that needs particular attention called Fund-A-Cause. The Fund-A-Cause project for 2024 will focus on funding the return of CSC’s FlutterBy Butterfly Habitat, raising the necessary funds to bring back this local favorite.

Visit the well-known FlutterBy Butterfly Habitat to learn about the butterfly life cycle at the butterfly nursery. Discover North Carolina Native Butterflies such as Monarchs, Swallowtails, and Fritillaries, and see semitropical species such as Zebra Long Wing, Julia, and Queen Butterflies. Find out what plants attract them as you see a wide array of flowers, shrubs, and vines in many colors and shapes. This exhibit so a local favorite and only comes every 3 years. Our new Solar Tree charging station sculpture is making headway! Please excuse our mess as we make final preparations for this installation. Soon this will be a place where families and school groups can rest, eat lunch, and charge their devices with the power generated from the solar panels on our Solar Tree Sculpture! PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB ON THE SOLAR TREE!
We love the Science Center! I take my 2 and 4 year old boys weekly to play and enjoy the exhibits. The staff are wonderful and the classes offered are excellent! We are so blessed to have such an amazing resource in our area.
Fabulous and I don’t often give praise. We took our grandson and were there for hours. He loved it and so did we.
This place was great. We have kids from 8 to 1 and they all had a great time. What I really liked is most of the exhibits are hands on and that really kept them occupied.
Took the kiddos and they loved it. Employees were nice and helpful. If your looking for something to do with the kids give this place a shot.
What a wonderful place to visit! Great environment to learn and the staff is very helpful! Hickory is lucky to have great family education and entertainment.
